The March addition of Local Authority building & maintenance magazine features an article by Matt Gardner, Sales and marketing manager at Synapsys –  focusing on the benefits of providing clear energy data to all building users.

Schools, colleges, academies and universities face their own unique Challenges when it comes to energy management. Although the same building users occupy the building day in, day out, they are so numerous and so removed from the sharp end of paying the energy bill, that it can seem impossible to bring about behavioural changes with a view to reducing energy usage.

Swindon College select the SIPe for energy monitoring

Posted on: January 18th, 2014 by copy No Comments

Swindon College have selected SIPe from Synapsys Solutions as their onsite energy monitoring solution for the Phoenix Building, a four story multi use building on campus.

The SIPe system will collect data from over 30 meters already installed making it the perfect retrofit solution. SIPe will provide the Estates and Finance teams easy access to the energy data visualised through easy to configure dashboards for multiple users.

Each user will be able to configure their dashboard so it is relevant to them and public display dashboards can be viewed through the screens across campus to engage with students and staff. The Estates Team will be able to easily monitor consumption to identify trends and areas for improvement whilst the Finance Team will be able to monitor costs, all in real time.

SIPe is being installed and commissioned early in 2014 and has been specified for the new workshop buildings being built next year. Following evaluation it is envisaged that SIPe will provide energy monitoring across the entire campus

The University of Glasgow Estate has many buildings spread across a wide area. The Estates Department at the University has started a programme of sub metering for key buildings and selected SIPe for the onsite monitoring.

The University selected the SIPe because it provides direct integration with the onsite Trend BMS, and has configuration tools to provide energy screen dashboards in these key buildings from the SIP without the need for expensive servers and remote subscription services.

In addition the SIPe allows direct access to the data stored within the on-board database which can also be scheduled to be sent to third party software.
