Developed in response to market demand, SIPd is an enabler for the emerging field of data analytics for building performance. It’s a simple, plug-and-play solution for a complex process; an ‘engine management system’ for today’s intelligent buildings

What sets SIPd apart is the volume of data it can handle, its speed of operation, and the variety of information feeds it can process. It captures the ‘big data’ available from a building management system (BMS), and establishes high volume, real-time data exchange between the BMS and an external data analytics partner.

The quantity and quality of performance data gathered gives plenty of scope for meaningful analysis, which can identify where energy savings can be made.

A SIPd typically takes multiple readings from around a building or estate at 15-minute intervals. This can include measurement points for:

  • Gas
  • Electricity
  • Biomass
  • Humidity
  • Temperature
  • Power usage meters
  • Output drives for fans
  • Variable speed drives
  • Heating and cooling parameters.

The device connects easily to a BMS via twin Ethernet ports, and is readily compatible with both Trend and BACnet BMS systems. The inclusion of the second Ethernet port allows the system to establish a constant two-way flow of information between the BMS and the analytics partner, while ensuring isolation between the analytics network and the building network.
